phonologicaltherapy (phono-tx)
Phonologicaltherapy (phono-tx) is a Yahoo group. Members of phono-tx can receive messages from the group as individual emails, or in daily digest form. Alternatively, they can read the messages here if they prefer not to receive them as email.
Discussion group members
The group includes students, clinical practitioners, lecturers / teachers, and researchers in the areas of speech-language pathology, speech and hearing science, linguists, audiology and a few parents of children with speech sound disorders. Numbers fluctuate a little as people come and go.
Participants are from: Afghanistan, the Arab Emirates, Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, British Virgin Islands (formerly called the Falkland Islands), Brunei Darussalam, Cameroon, Canada, the Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Gibraltar, Greece, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Jersey, Kenya, the Republic of Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Niue, Norway, Pakistan, Palestine, Papua New Guinea, the People's Republic of China, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, the Republic of China (Taiwan), Romania, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Tanzania, Turkey, Tuvalu, the UK, the United Arab Emirates, the USA, Yemen, Yugoslavia and Zimbabwe.
The aim of the group
The aim of phono-tx is to provide opportunities for professional discussion between Speech-Language Pathologists / Speech and Language Therapists, Linguists, Audiologists and Educators who are interested in speech development, child phonology and disordered speech, and students in these disciplines.
Discussions relate to speech development across the lifespan, children's speech sound disorders (SSDs), and related issues.
The SSDs include articulation disorders, phonological disorders, childhood apraxia of speech ("dyspraxia"), dysarthria in children, structurally based speech difficulties (e.g., speech impairment associated with cleft palate or malocclusion) and speech difficulties associated intellectual impairment.
We try to keep the discussions focused, and off-topic posts are discouraged.
Files and links
Phono-tx has an extensive files area containing child speech related articles, assessment resources and therapy materials. It also has a links area with many child speech related links.

On vacation?
If you are going to be away from your computer you might want to set your preferences to "no email", here.
Parents
On the group's home page http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/phonologicaltherapy/ it reads 'Consumers, welcome! You are respectfully reminded that phono-tx is for professional discussion not "parent advice" or help for adults with speech concerns.'
Unlike the outstandingly good Apraxia-Kids listserv, phono-tx is not a support group for parents. Non-speech-language-professionals will find the discussions tend to be quite technical.
While interested parents and other family members are very welcome to join, please bear in mind that phono-tx is for professional discussion, not parent advice.
Parents of children with speech disorders, or other communication disorders are respectfully reminded not to post their personal stories, or requests for diagnostic or intervention advice for their own children.
'Parent posts' and responses to them that slip under the radar will be deleted.
