Speech and Language Therapy for Cambodia

"In 2007, three graduates from the SLT course at City University visited Cambodia for three months to give therapy to children in need and advise carers on their speech, communication and feeding difficulties. We aim to repeat this project over the next three years and are seeking funding to support it.

On this site you can read the blog entries posted by members of the project and keep up to date with the hard work and progress they are making in Cambodia."

If this piques your interest in helping (especially financially) visit and join the associated Facebook non-profit organization group.

Speechwoman is impressed and says "hats of" to the developers of the project, Professor Tim Pring, Dept of Language and Communication Science, City University, and Dr. Debbie Sell, Dept of Speech and Language Therapy, Great Ormond St Hospital.

Dysfluency: Stuttering and Cluttering

Volume 11, Issue 1, 2009 of Speech Pathology Australia's International Journal of Speech-Language Pathology is devoted to dysfluency, and the publisher, Informa Healthcare is offering it free of charge! From the editorial to the final article this scholarly and readable issue of IJSLP, guest edited by Sharon Millard, Mark Onslow and David T. Rowley, will be one to refer to in the course of assessment and intervention with dysfluent individuals of all ages.

Speechwoman was particularly taken with the article by Millard, Edwards & Cook entitled Parent-child interaction therapy: Adding to the evidence, and Packman & Kuhn's Looking at stuttering through the lens of complexity. Congratulations to Speech Pathology Australia and all concerned!

International Journal of Speech-Language Pathology is peer reviewed and is currently abstracted and indexed in: Applied Social Sciences Index & Abstracts (ASSIA); Australian Public Affairs Information Service (APAIS); Biological Abstracts Care Data; Child Development Abstracts; Current Contents/Social and Behavioural Sciences; CINAHL; CSA Linguistics and Language Behaviour Abstracts; Australasian Medical Index; EBSCO online and PsycINFO.

Speech Language Pathology Resources

Speech Language Pathology Resources is the brainchild of Jennifer Taps, M.A., CCC-SLP. Jennifer facilitates the Articulation Resource Center for the San Diego Unified school district, supporting 250 SLPs in phonological and articulation treatment. Online for about a year, the site is a work in progress (as all the good sites are!) full of helpful child speech related resources and information. Speechwoman was particularly thrilled to see Jennifer's 2008 ASHA presentation. Nice work Alex, Zoe and Jen!
