Afasic 
Afasic is a British charity that represents children and young adults with communication impairments, works for their inclusion in society and supports their parents and carers. A terrific feature is the Afasic Abstract, edited by Professor Julie Dockrell, Director of Psychology at South Bank University, and Professor Geoff Lindsay, Director of the Psychology and Special Needs Research Unit at the University of Warwick.

Rimes and Rhymes
A-Rhyme-a-Week is a phonological awareness program, on the Curry School of Education, University of Virginia, web site.  It features thirty different nursery rhymes in a fun and appealing approach to fostering an important component of early literacy acquisition. A-Rhyme-a-Week is just one aspect of Webbing Into Literacy (WIL) a Head Start Program, which includes 101 Best Books for Children. Its author is Laura B Smolkin.

The Stuttering Home Page 
The Stuttering Home Page, a project of Judith Kuster, in consultation with John C. Harrison, is dedicated to providing information about stuttering. In the month of October it hosts the International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD) on-line Conference. Archives of the conferences remain on-line, providing information and help to consumers and professionals. The site has many features, including a Stuttering Chatroom and a What's New section.

Apraxia-Kids
This recently revamped web site is aimed at multiple audiences, including parents of children who have been recently diagnosed with developmental apraxia of speech (DAS), parents of late talkers, teachers and speech-language pathologists. It also provides a constant stream of information for parents of older children with DAS who are negotiating the challenges of school, the workplace and life in general. It provides abundant support, well-referenced information, and links to carefully  selected resources.

First Words Project  
This is a model early identification and intervention program based in the Department of Communication Disorders at Florida State University. Staffed by speech-language pathologists and interdisciplinary consultants, the project is funded to evaluate the communication development of children from 6 to 24 months of age. The site makes an immediate and practical contribution to clinical practice with its handout materials which can be downloaded and printed.
